Tourism Traffic In Bali Increased By Festivals

Rangda And Barong Ornament Crafts

 Ornament crafts barong & Rangda that believed by Hindus in Bali as a symbol of good and evil in great demand by Japanese tourists. I Made Sukawana, one of the barong crafters in the Banjar Mawang , Delodtunduh, Ubud, Gianyar regency, explained, every month it would sell four to six types of handicrafts and Rangda barong.

“Generally, Japanese tourists come directly to our home or our shop to buy unique handicrafts of Bali,” he said.

He explains, for the size of a mini barong made of cow leather fur prasok (plant species) complete with Tapel (mask) is sold at Rp 600,000.
“One barong mini with a 55 cm length was demanded by tourists because of portability as a souvenir from the island of Bali,” he said.

While the craft for the type of Rangda, said Sukawana, sold at Rp 2 million to Rp 3 million more expensive than the mini size barong.

“The expensive of price Rangda craft, because the use of horsehair hair and specially made mask from pule wood,” he said.

In addition, the drafting process also takes up to two weeks more. If Rangda mask  with sizes up to 100 cm hair requires two weeks.

Today, from 35 employees who have, it can produce each day 10 mini handicrafts barong type, while for Rangda depending reservations.

“Because the Rangda craft is more expensive, we only made in accordance with the order,” he said.

Sanur Village Festival Lift Bali Tourism Image

Vice Governor of Bali, Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayoga said, the implementation of the Sanur Village Festival (SVF) in 2010 represents a strategic momentum to lift the image of tourism in Bali, Sanur tourism in particular. “SVF held since 2006 has become one of the icons of positive events in the Denpasar city, one of the motor as well as tourism promotion,” he said in Denpasar, on Monday (08/02/2010). Puspayoga invite all communities to participate and the success of the event by attending and enjoying activities that were served during the four days which start in 4 to 8 August 2010.

He’s hoping this festival becomes larger and remains grounded in the original mission to raise the potential of art, culture and tourism Sanur. “I applaud the efforts empower all of society Sanur potentiality. Therefore we ought to support the joint,” said Puspayoga.
